FUN AND MUSIC IN MADRID
With talents such as Bob Dylan, Shakira, Alejandro Sanz, The Police and Neil Young, among others.
Madrid (EFE).- The International Music Fest Rock in Rio, starting next Friday in Madrid, will give place to two weekends of music and fun with Bob Dylan, Shakira, The Police, Neil Young, Alejandro Sanz, Carlinhos Brown, Tokio Hotel and Amy Winehouse, among others.
The event will be held in a space of 200 thousand square meters, specially built for the occasion and that has been named ‘ciudad del rock’ (‘city of rock’) by the organizers of the event.
This space does not only house two stages destined for concerts, it will also include a tent that has been set for fashion shows, a ‘snow area’ and endless shopping and restoration areas.
During the last weekend of June and the first day of July, an heterogeneous variety of performers will be gracing the different stages with their presence.
From icons in the history of music, such as Bob Dylan and The Police, to teenage pop phenomenon Tokio Hotel and international stars like Shakira and Lenny Kravitz will share the musical experience with local acts like Estopa, El Canto del Loco and Alejandro Sanz.
On Friday (June 27) the series of concerts will begin with Neil Young, Jack Johnson, Alanis Morissette and Manolo Garcia.
This first day, that will also include Spanish rocker Loquillo, will be closed by the most successful DJ’s from Ibiza: David Guetta, Wally Lopez, Sara Main and Goldfish, in the electronic area of the Festival.
A very different mood will be set for Saturday (June 28). Starting with the Brazilian rhythms of Carlinhos Brown and Ivete Sangalo and then moving on to the main stage to rock to the beat of two greatly successful bands: El Canto del Loco and Tokio Hotel.
The Swedish indie of Mando Diao will offer an alternative when they take over the Hot Stage, until Carl Cox and Cristian Varela’s electronic beats invite faithful listeners to gather ‘round their tables right at midnight.
Shakira will heat up the Friday night of July the 1st with her Latin pop. The Colombian star will perform her most popular songs after Jamiroquai, Stereophonics and Orishas have pleased the crowd with their particular styles.
On Sunday, Alejandro Sanz, The Police, Lenny Kravitz and Franz Ferdinand, a band with great international success, will be in charge of the last phase of the event.
Rock in Rio is expected to gather 350, 000 people, according to Roberta Medina, VP of the organization.
